A visit to Zwick's Park

One of my favourite places to go when we head to Canada each year (yes, even before we had Lukey) is Zwick's park. It is right up the road from Gramma and Grandpa's house. I can't wait for Luke to be excited about it, too! We managed to get there for a walk one morning, but poor Lukey didn't get a chance to swing or play much, because he was too ready for a nap! But, it was fun anyway. We met Uncle Matt and Cait there, and Grandpa and Gramma. It was a sweet way to spend some time.


Luke thought it was the coolest thing to hold Grandpa's hand as we walked. It wasn't so easy to push the stroller that way, but it was pretty darn cute!

He couldn't quite blow hard enough, so he found another way to remove the seeds.

We enjoyed taking a bit of a stroll while catching up with family. Luke had a lot of fun running around and looking at all the dogs before we set out to walk a bit. He really likes dogs unless they look at him, or walk toward him, or breathe, or... you get the idea. But he's getting better!

Independence Day

This year the Mackay side of the Smith family decided to stay home from the family Independence Day celebration and take in the Fayetteville sights and sounds. We had a really wonderful weekend in spite of the sickness that has pervaded our house in the last few weeks. For such a quiet little town, Fayetteville puts on quite the celebration! We took a family walk to the nearby town park where they had vendors and rides and even a little kids tractor pull. It was just quaint and I enjoyed it. Luke loved getting out and about a bit and seeing lots of other kids. Kids are pretty awesome, in case you didn't know.

Back at home. Daddy was grilling steak and potatoes for supper. Luke is staring at the grill in awe. Maybe one day Daddy will let him grill something.



Family picture on the 4th. We had a wonderful time together.

Luke and I managed to listen to part of a concert downtown while waiting for Andrew to get off work. He had a blast. It was fun. We missed the fireworks cause we were all in bed by 9. How sad is that?

Two Boys

Here are my boys, decked out in their West Virginia hats, ready for the park! This was the last time that Lukey was able to fit into his hat. :( They look so darn cute together!

Memorial Day Park Fun Part 2

Here are a few more shots of our Memorial Day at the park. Luke was super sweet and I just loved watching him toddle around exploring.


This is our first real occurrence of "stick play." Luke found a stick at the park and was fascinated by it. He used it to poke things and point at things, mostly. It was just cute.

Here, Lukey and Daddy are playing the big xylophone at the park. It was pretty cool. Andrew did a pretty nice rendition of "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" but declined my request to put it on the blog! :) Luke thought it was pretty cool that he could hit something and it made a sound.



My two happy boys. Luke was really ridiculously having a good time. (Yes, I know that sentence is odd.)


Again with the swings. I have got to look for a toddler swing for our house. We have a place to put it and everything. I just need to be a little more disciplined about looking for one.

Memorial Day Park Fun

So, fairly early on Memorial Day, we headed off to the park. It was definitely the time to go as there was no one else there. It was wonderful to have the place to ourselves. We finally let Luke actually walk around and climb on things and he had such a good time! We got lots of good pictures from the day.



He was SO happy to be standing up there! I admit I was nervous and am just out of the picture, in case he lost his balance. He's turning into such a big boy!



Here he is demonstrating his mastery of stairs. He's only been up stairs a few times in his little life, but he sure acted like he knew what he was doing.



Again, I wanted to be right behind the little explorer. :)




He just gets such a cute happy/proud look on his face sometimes! I just want to grab him and kiss him! What's funny about this picture is that I am right behind him, with my feet up on the rails so that we can get a picture of him by himself.


And here, I dropped back down to chase the little toddler on down the walkway to Daddy. It was such a good time. I love seeing him learn. More pictures will follow eventually, when I get them saved to blogger. We have some lovely pictures of Andrew and Luke playing a big xylophone there in the park... :)

More Birthday Fun

Andrew and I just took Luke to the park that is close by our house. I'm sad to say that it was the first time we'd been. But I'm quite certain we'll be spending quite a bit of time there this spring/summer. Luke had never been in a swing and he had such a good time.




He had such a look of pure glee on his face! It was SO sweet.

He loved the merry-go-round, but personally, I wished I hadn't gotten on it with him. I am still quite nauseous and even though Andrew pushed very slowly it didn't feel very good.

The long walk back to the car. "Daddy, do we have to go now? Just a few more minutes?" It won't be long until he is voicing those desires in more than a disappointed look and a few whiny cries.

All in all, it was a great first trip to the park. We all had such fun.
