Phone Times

Luke and I found a box of his toys and he joyfully unpacked them all. He was particularly happy to see this phone, borrowed from Uncle Sam and Aunt Gina and cousins A and J. I think he likes the fact that it's loud and obnoxious (unlike the one Gramma and Grandpa got him for Christmas which is blessedly quiet... almost too quiet if that is possible).

He was too impressed with his find. I love this little boy!

Faces of Lukey

Luke and I were waiting for Andrew to finish talking after our church meeting one day. So we were playing with the camera...

What's over there?

"We represent the lollipop guild..."

Mommy is SO funny.

"Can I see the picture, Mom?"

Here's a great smile.

Mommy and Lukey together.

Ah, the picture we were waiting for.

First Real Bath

So, is it bad that Luke was ten months old before he got to actually sit in a bath tub to play? Well, that was the case. :) He was all about sink baths or quick showers (he loves the water!) before but he seemed to enjoy it. Here is just one quick shot of him eating Shamu. :P

Crazy Faces - exploring the new house

Luke has enjoyed the experience of having a step to play on. Of course, on his first day in this house, he fell backwards off the step and smashed his head on the hard floor. It feels like carpeted cement and is HARD. So he was quite upset. But, he quickly mastered going up and down. He still tumbles down it sideways sometimes, but rarely does it bother him.

He was happily playing with the Dr Pepper case while climbing up and down the step. He's pretty proud of himself!

I don't even know what to say about this face. It's just funny.

Look Mom! This is awesome.... er, what is it? Also, his feet ALWAYS come out of this outfit. I think it needs more buttons.

"I think she's gonna pick me up now!"

His little hand is reaching for the strap on the camera. He's a quick one!

This picture reminds me of his cousin Wilson. A lot. Something about the tongue. And also, I love his eyes in this one. He's just so much fun.

I love this boy. He's such a joy and such a handful. He's always into something (he literally fell into one of the boxes I haven't gotten unpacked yet) and is a delight. And I'm tired. :)

It's been a lovely weekend in spite of Luke and I not being well enough to go to church. Andrew had today off and he let me run to CVS (they totally need to stop having awesome deals on pop!) without the baby. That was nice. Luke's pretty easy, really, to take out with me. But it's still lovely to go out without worrying about getting him in and out of his car seat or picking up whatever item he has grabbed from a shelf as we walked by and decided it would be funny to throw it on the floor. I am so thankful for the sling. Don't know what I would do without it. Although, I think I'm about to find out, cause he's getting really heavy to carry around for more than an hour. Anyway, I digress. I'm going to go find some chocolate to eat. :)

Daddy and Luke

Here are my two goofy boys. I love them both. This was after Luke's supper a few nights ago. It's been cute to see lately how much Luke loves his Daddy. He has become more and more excited to be with Andrew. He grins when I tell him that Daddy's coming home or when he sees him in the morning. I love it that he is enthralled. And when Andrew gets out his guitar... Forget it. Luke thinks he's SO awesome. Which, of course, he is. :)

Smith Family Christmas

We had our Smith Family Christmas on the tenth of January this year. I love having Christmas after Christmas. It gives so much more time to relax (and get those after Christmas sales on wrapping paper! We're so ready for next year) and is just nice. This year mKhulu and nGogo had Lukey's name for Christmas and they got him this annoying wonderful little toy piano. Really, he loves it. He thinks it's very funny to play it with a piece of tupperware. Tonight he played the opening notes of "Oh Canada" much to his daddy's delight. And Daddy and Mommy figured out how to play the theme to BlackAdder Goes Forth which was also pretty awesome. Oh yeah, Christmas. It was a fun day, for sure. The boys all got to play hockey which Andrew loved. It was nice to see my brothers (and cousin) and my husband goofing off together. I'm shocked to see that I don't think I have any pictures of that event. :( It was one of the few times we all manage to get together. Here is Luke with his gift.

I love this kid!

Blue Eyed Kid

This is our sweet boy. He's got some seriously blue eyes. If you look closely you can see his two little teeth peeking out there at the bottom. I keep trying to take a better picture, but he will have none of it. He now has one top tooth through and the one beside it almost through. It also looks like he has two more on both the top and bottom getting ready to show up. He didn't get teeth till he was nine months old and now he's going crazy! :)

Mommy and Lukey

So, this is an older picture... I think it was a couple of months ago, but it was the first time Luke got to wear his little snowsuit that Uncle Luke and Aunt Helena bought for him. It was super toasty and that was nice cause it was freezing! Me, I'm wearing a sweatershirt that once belonged to Uncle Matty. Awesome. :)

I can't wait for him to be old enough to play in the snow!

Moving Stories

We moved to F town on Saturday the 3rd of January. Luke got sick the Thursday night before that. I honestly wonder at God's timing sometimes. Luke was quite unhappy with this turn of events and so were we. He and I got maybe an hour or two of sleep that night (we sent Andrew out to the couch, poor guy). I still had bunches of packing to do and was hoping to get a lot done while he was asleep. That didn't happen. Not only did he not sleep, he also wanted me the whole time. I felt bad for him. Then we had a repeat the next night, with maybe a bit more sleep, but not more than three hours. Then it was Saturday, moving day. Andrew and mKhulu went to pick up our U-Haul truck just before seven... they didn't get back until after nine. Apparently the guy who was supposed to open up just decided not to show that day. So, we were off to a great start! No sleep and no truck. Anyway, long story shorter we had lots of help and got moved fairly quickly and mostly painlessly. Thanks everyone. But these pictures were taken Saturday morning just before all the guys showed up to help. Luke was catching some MUCH needed sleep with nGogo while I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. On a side note, I'm really glad I've never seen a chicken run around with its head cut off. :) So, here is our sweet, sick boy.

I was so glad that he was finally getting some sleep. He played with nGogo quite a bit that day, with visits to mom in between cause he was a little out of sorts from being sick and getting his first tooth all at once. Needless to say, I'm glad that's over!
